Not about the awards we have garnered and they are plenty, 433 AOS awards plus a handful of CSA Awards as of July 25, 2021, but about our ranking on the all-time list of “hybridizers with the most hybrids awarded”
Lehua Orchids is now the most awarded hybridizer of slipper orchids according to Orchid Wiz x9.1.
Click on LIST in Orchid Wiz on the top line. Follow the drop down screen to “Hybridizers with the most Hybrids Awarded”. Narrow the search by Breeding Group “Paph, Phrags, Cypripediums” and click LIST. There is Lehua at the top of a list that has 650 names including a lot of household names. Lehua Orchids has 310 awarded hybrids. Lehua is ahead of Rod McClellan (202) Ratcliffe (201) and Terry Root (194).
There have been some remarkable achievements in getting to this point; 18 AQ’s for Paphs, three of which were cut flower AQ’s, an AOS first; two AD’s for our white breeding of Maudiae style Paphs; but no FCC’s, those have been garnered by our customers and our customers’ customers. Having our customers and their customers actively participating in getting our hybrids awarded is one of the most satisfying results of our push to achieve this goal.
